Special Stage is a series of programs which introduces many aspects of the world’s greatest artists, focusing on the “now” of their activities. Alongside the concerts in the Main Hall, master classes and special talks are held in the Blue Rose (Small Hall).
In 2021 as the 40th anniversary of MIDORI's debut, MIDORI's allure was showcased mainly with Beethoven's pieces including sonatas for piano & violin, piano trios, and concertos.

Anne-Sophie Mutter once again puts on a special stage performace as she did in 2016. Presenting an alluring program celebrating the 250th anniversary since Beethoven’s birth.
In 2016, the 35th anniversary of her Japan debut, Anne-Sophie Mutter presented wide variety of repertoire including contemporary works dedicated to her. Also the Mutter Virtuosi, the ensemble to promote next generation musicians, appeared in Japan for the first time.
Myung-Whun Chung conducted both Japanese and Korean orchestras with which he had the most close relationship, and also played the piano with a chamber ensemble. He led young musicians at the master class with passion.
During the enthusiastic five-day stage, Midori produced recitals, a concerto evening and a master class, where she exhibited her splendor in top level performance and education as well as in energetic social activities.
Mitsuko Uchida is one of the finest pianists of our time. Two recitals in 2013 grabbed the audience with programs featuring Schumann and others.
With his outstanding musicality and interpretation, Gidon Kremer has been recognized as one of the most exceptional violinists. Together with his own chamber ensemble Kremerata Baltica and other co-performers, his unique world enthralled the audience.
Mitsuko Uchida is one of the finest pianists of our time. She presented Schubert’s works in the recital and performed chamber music with Hagen Quartet in 2011.
