The Ready-To-Drink (RTD) category, which includes pre-mixed alcoholic beverages in cans or bottles that can be opened and enjoyed immediately, has been growing worldwide in recent years, thanks to its convenience and accessibility.

RTDs can be made with spirits like whisky, vodka, and shochu, and they appeal to a wide variety of consumers with diverse needs, from the health-conscious to young people who seek pure refreshment. Suntory offers these products with a competitive advantage, as its consumer-oriented technologies and expertise in creating superior taste has already accumulated through its spirits and soft drink businesses.

Since 2020, -196 has been launched in China, Thailand, and other parts of Asia, as well as in Australia. In 2024, the brand became available in the United States and expanded to new areas including Germany and the UK. Today, -196 is enjoyed by consumers in over ten countries and regions worldwide.
