Tatehana Noritaka|Artist
Born in 1985, Tatehana is a graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts, where he studied painting and sculpture, and later majored in dyeing and weaving. The “Heel-less shoes” that he created for his graduation project were inspired by oiran’s geta. His works are held in public collections of major museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As an artist, he presents his works in exhibitions and is actively engaged in creative activities with traditional craftsmen in Japan.

Nakajima Seinosuke|Antiques appraiser and essayist
Born in 1938, Nakajima applies his decades of experience in the antiques business in appraising and evaluating antique works of art. He regularly appears as an appraiser on the long-running TV-Tokyo program Kaiun! Nandemo Kanteidan (“Good Fortune! The Anything Appraisal Team”). Popular for his acute connoisseurship and crisp, clear Edokko style of speech, he is a director of the Toguri Museum of Art.

Iura Arata|Actor, creator
Born in 1974, Iura had his first starring role, in 1998, in the film Wonderful Life. Since then he has been active in a wide range of fields, including film, television drama, and narration. He is currently the host for NHK’s Sunday Art Museum series. He is involved with Takumi Bunka Kikou, an organization that works to sustain traditional Japanese culture and the arts, and is also the director of the ELNEST CREATIVE ACTIVITY apparel brand.

Sakazaki Konosuke|Musician
Born in 1954, Sakazaki is the key man behind THE ALFEE’s acoustic sound. He, Sakurai Masaru, and Toshihiko Takamizawa founded the group, which debuted professionally in 1974. It has been a leading band in the Japanese music scene ever since. Sakazaki is also known as a collector of cameras and Japanese wa glass and, since 2008, has served as the goodwill ambassador for Edo kiriko (Edo-style cut glass).

Yamaguchi Akira|Painter
Born in 1969, Yamaguchi incorporates traditional techniques that call to mind Yamato-e and ukiyo-e while mingling time and space. His style of depicting human figures and architectural structures in elaborate detail has attracted much favorable attention. In 2012, he donated fusuma-e (sliding door paintings) to the Shoin of Yorin-an in the Byodo-in temple complex. In 2013, he was awarded the twelfth Kobayashi Hideo Prize for his Hen na Nihon Bijutsu-shi (“An eccentric history of Japanese art”).

Born in 1983, Shibamoto was selected in 2007 for the role of Yuu Hime in the NHK period drama series Furin Kazan. Since then she has been active on stage, in film, and in television dramas. While studying at Keio University, she earned a qualification as a museum curator.
