Suntory Hall New Year Concert 2025
Symphonie-Orchester der Volksoper Wien
January 1 – 3, 2025
Suntory Hall is pleased to present the highly popular New Year Concert 2025 featuring the Symphonie-Orchester der Volksoper Wien (Symphony Orchestra of the Volksoper Vienna=SOVOP) on January 1 - 3, 2025.
Suntory Hall’s New Year Concert has been held since 1988. The Volksoper Orchestra performs selections from their repertoire of operettas and Viennese waltzes, while dancers of the ballet ensemble add colour and splendour to the stage. The New Year Concert 2025 will mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of the “Waltz King”, Johann Strauss Jr. with a special programme.
As soloists, the brilliant soprano Siphiwe McKenzie, who delighted us at the New Year Concerts in 2020, makes a welcome return, and tenor Szabolcs Brickner, Kammersänger of the Hungarian State Opera, appears in the New Year Concerts for the first time. Alexander Joel, esteemed opera conductor and current guest principal conductor of the Volksoper Wien, will bring out vibrant performances from the soloists and orchestra. They will be joined on the stage by the graceful dancers of the Ballett Ensemble SOVOP Wien.
There will be a pre-concert performance by members of the orchestra in the Blue Rose (Small Hall), where there will be a drinks bar.
We hope you will celebrate New Year at Suntory Hall with the elegant tunes of Viennese polkas and waltzes.
