Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy Concerts

Every June, Suntory Hall Chamber Music Garden is an excellent showcase for the Fellows (academy members) and Alumni of Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy.
Since the launch of the Academy in 2010, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (Cello / President of Suntory Hall) has served as Academy Director, and has subsequently invited Koichiro Harada (Violin), Kikuei Ikeda (Violin), Wakako Hanada (Violin), Kazuhide Isomura (Viola), Hakuro Mori (Cello), and Shigeo Neriki (Piano) on board as the Coaching Faculty. To date, the Academy has produced the Aoi Trio (piano trio / winner of first prize at the ARD International Music Competition Munich 2018), Quartet Integra (string quartet / winner of second and audience prizes at the ARD International Music Competition Munich 2022), the HONO Quartet (string quartet / winner of second prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition 2023), and other young chamber music artists.

Precious 1 pm Vol. 2 Heart-Stirring Classical Music from Eastern Europe

‘Precious 1' pm is a casual 60-minute concert on a weekday afternoon. The musicians play exhilarating selections of the repertoire mixed in with relaxed talks about the music. In Vol. 2, Quartet Integra, one of the most astounding young groups today, will be staging works that reflect Smetana’s masterpiece “Z mého života (From My Life)” in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

ENJOY! Concerts by Chamber Music Academy Fellows Ⅰ& Ⅱ

A fresh performance by the fellows (academy members) of Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy who showcase the fruit of their devoted efforts on music. The musicians’ introductions of the pieces provided before each performance allows the audience to feel more familiar with the music. The academy is also proud that the current fellows and recent alumni have won international competitions or found their professional careers as orchestra musicians.

Chamber Music Laboratory with Sumire Hirotsuru and Young Artists

Sumire Hirotsuru, who completed her studies at Harvard and the Juilliard Schools, has set up the Chamber Music Laboratory in Blue Rose to provide a special programme alongside Academy selected fellows that explores various approaches to music, such as a comparison of a traditional and a modern interpretation of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
