Japan’s largest chamber music festival
Bringing together world-class artists across the generations
Suntory Hall’s annual Chamber Music Garden (CMG) festival takes place over 16 days in June in the intimate space of its “Blue Rose” (Small Hall). Founded in 2011 in order that people can experience chamber music up close in an intimate setting, CMG has now developed into Japan’s largest chamber music festival. This year, a total of 22 concerts will take place, including Beethoven’s String Quartet cycle, an annual fixture. In addition, seven selected concerts will be streamed (live and on-demand) on the Digital Suntory Hall platform.

Aoi Trio – The World of Piano Trios:
The Second Concert of the Seven-Year Project
Upon graduating from the Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy, Aoi Trio’s members came together as a piano trio and their brilliance now resounds both in Japan and abroad since attaining victory at the ARD International Music Competition Munich. Aoi Trio have been working since 2021 on a distinctive special seven-year project offering a myriad of pieces. They play each of Beethoven's piano trios at CMG until the 2027 bicentennial of his death. 2022 marks the project’s second year, and starts with Beethoven’s vividly uplifting Piano Trio No. 2 before moving into a piece by the quintessential composer of present-day Japan, Toshio Hosokawa, as well as an outstanding secret piece to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Franck’s birth.
