Suntory Bird Conservation Activities Toward the future for most precious nature - our hope for the birds

Suntory recognized in 1973 that wild birds are a "barometer of the environment" and launched activities to protect habitable environments for wild birds.

People cannot live in environments where birds cannot live peacefully, and protecting birds is linked with protecting environments where people live. It is with this concept in mind that Suntory continues to engage in these activities.
The goal is to have birds, people, and by extension all creatures inherit abundant fields where they can live going forward.

Hakushu Bird Sanctuary opened in 1973

Suntory launched activities to create a "Bird Sanctuary" as a place where wild birds can live peacefully in the forest surrounding the Suntory Hakushu Distillery.

The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation

The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation was founded in 1989, and the " Wetlands Riparian Large Bird Conservation" division was founded with the fund in 2014.

Suntory will continue to support activities to recover the abundant Wetlands environment where wild birds live.

In order to protect the birds that are located at the apex of the ecosystem pyramid in Japan, the biodiversity of the entire ecosystem pyramid needs to be protected. Suntory believes that such protection activities are surely linked with protecting balanced environments where we humans can live comfortably, and they will continue with activities to protect wild birds as well as environments that are hospitable for wild birds.
