Two angels stand, offering cups to each other. Above them flutters a ribbon with the word VRIENDSCHAP (Dutch for "friendship"). The decoration was produced by diamond stippling, in which a tool with a diamond or nearly diamond-hard tip is tapped against the surface to engrave it with fine marks. The contrast between light and dark resulting from the stipple engraving casts the design into relief. The engraver David Wolff's forte angel motifs with political or religious slogans.
