Both the front and back of this vase are inspired by the shape of the marguerite blossom. Above the petals and the stamens and pistils of the flowers are thistles, the symbol of Nancy, and the Cross of Lorraine, whick has two horizontal bars, As a symbol of resistance against enemies, the Cross of Lorraine is often used with the thistle on Gallé’s works.（『没後120年 エミール・ガレ：憧憬のパリ』サントリー美術館、2024年）
