The Suntory Group has joined Sedex, a non-profit organization dedicated to driving improvements in ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains. This comes after the formation of the Suntory Group Sustainability Vision and Suntory Group Human Rights Policy, which was established on July 31, 2019. The use of the platform will begin in September.
As the world’s largest ethical information sharing platform, Sedex supplies companies with a universal self-assessment questionnaire in four areas: labor rights; health & safety; environment; and business ethics. Over 50,000 companies, organizations, factories, and independent businesses in over 150 countries around the world use its services.
Together with its partners, the Suntory Group plans to use the Sedex platform to enhance and streamline risk management throughout the company’s global supply chain. Suntory will specifically focus on raw ingredients, packaging, and logistics.
The Suntory Group established the Basic Policy on Sustainable Procurement in 2011 and the Suntory Group Supplier Guidelines in 2017. Through an independent self-assessment questionnaire, Suntory continues to promote sustainable procurement, such as the selection and monitoring of the trading partners who supply it with raw ingredients and duties.
