SUNTORY YAMAZAKI DISTILLERY WINS “WHISKY VISITOR ATTRACTION OF THE YEAR” AT ICONS OF WHISKY 2015
SECOND WIN FOR SUNTORY YAMAZAKI DISTILLERY SINCE 2006



Tokyo, Japan, March 20, 2015 – The Suntory Yamazaki Distillery of Suntory Spirits Limited received the honor of “Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year” at Icons of Whisky 2015. Hosted by Whisky Magazine, this honor recognizes a distillery that provides superior visitor satisfaction. The awards ceremony was held in London, England on Thursday, March 19.

Icons of Whisky are designed to celebrate the manufactures, distilleries, and the people who have contributed significantly to the whisky industry.

Chosen among whisky distilleries around the globe, the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery received this year’s “Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year”, which is awarded to the distillery that has the best distillery facilities and atmosphere, staff knowledge and hospitality, that together provide superior visitor satisfaction. “The Suntory Yamazaki Distillery tour promises to teach you everything you need to know about how they produce a variety of distinctive whiskies at every process from fermentation to aging warehouse.  Here you will learn how to enjoy the whisky at its best.” said the judging panel.

This is the second time that Suntory Yamazaki Distillery has received the “Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year”, with the first win in 2006.  As we aim to convey our heritage, quality and expertise of whisky making to the customers, this prestigious recognition for Suntory Yamazaki Distillery is extremely significant for us.

With construction beginning in 1923, the Yamazaki Distillery is Japan's first whisky distillery. Over more than 90 years as the home of whisky in Japan, this distillery has continued to create a wide variety of malt whiskies. Yamazaki whisky has received high praise the world over for its quality, and in recent years has stood out in winning many awards at international competitions. At the same time, the distillery is highly rated both inside and outside Japan as a place to experience and enjoy the deep richness in whiskies.
