The first environmental education program for next generations
abroad Suntory initiates "Mizuiku" in Vietnam
A program to teach the importance of water to children in Vietnam

Suntory Holdings Limited launchs the environmental education program, “Mizuiku” in Vietnam on March 19 (Thu) to teach the importance of water to children.

Under the corporate vision of “Bringing water to life”, Suntory Group has been implementing various environmental protection activities including “Natural Water Sanctuaries” to protect and cultivate the forests that nurture groundwater. Beginning in 2004, the group has been providing Suntory “Mizuiku”, an environmental education program for next generations to give children an opportunity to become aware of the importance of “water” and the forests. A large number of participants join this program each year with a positive feedback. So far, we have attracted a total of over 92,000 participants.

As Suntory Group’s business activities expand globally, we wish to promote our environmental activities in the world as well. Since Suntory “Mizuiku” has been supported by many parents and teachers in Japan, we decided to roll out this program abroad, which first country of implementation is Vietnam.

Collaborating with a group company, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage, and an international NGO, Live & Learn, we will provide this program to approximately 1,600 students in grades 3 to 5 and teachers at 6 elementary schools in the My Duc and Thanh Oai districts in Hanoi this year. We will implement our unique hands-on educational program including classes to teach the importance of water and its resources protection, hygiene, and also an outdoor trip to the Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage’s plant. Additionally, in order to help improve the hygienic environment of the children, Suntory will sponsor to install water facilities at these schools.
