To further strengthen the Suntory Group's Basic Research Department, Suntory Holdings Limited has newly established Suntory Global Innovation Center Limited (president: Masato Arishiro; head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo), which will begin operating on April 1.
The Suntory Group, seeking the Group's sustained growth, is constantly working to "create new value" by promoting R&D activities. Among our current efforts in research and technology development, we are conducting research – centered at the Frontier Center for Value Creation of Suntory Business Expert Limited – in such areas as microbial science, plant science, water science, nutritional science, and the scientific study of food palatability.
Now, to promote the further "creation of new value" from a medium– and long–term perspective, we have spun off the Basic Research Department to establish an independent company, Suntory Global Innovation Center Limited. Hereafter, we will concentrate the Suntory Group's know-how and human resources at this company and promote research that will serve as the basis of proposals for creating new value. In the spring of 2015, moreover, we plan to move two of our research centers to Keihanna Science City.
