The AWS Global Water Stewardship Forum, held in Edinburgh, UK on May 16-17, 2023, was attended by about 150 water experts, global companies, and NGOs from around the world, who engaged in lively discussions on the importance of water management following the United Nations Water Week in March, and on good practices as well as the development of the AWS Standard.
Suntory Holdings, together with Apple and General Mills, took the stage at the session " AWS Standard in Owned Operations: Part II". In the session, the case of Suntory Kyushu Kumamoto Plant, which became the first AWS "Platinum" certified plant in Japan was reported. The effects of water source recharge and ecosystem conservation through "Natural Water Sanctuary Aso" and "winter water rice paddies," as well as concrete examples of collective actions with Kumamoto Groundwater Foundation, were presented and the report was highly evaluated by the audience. In addition, Suntory Holdings participated in the "Data and Technology as Enablers of Action" session, where it introduced the next-generation water risk assessment tool being developed as part of the Global Water Cycle Social Cooperation Program, which is being jointly researched by Suntory Holdings, the University of Tokyo, and Nippon Koei Co.
The Suntory Group will continue to take the leadership in water and promote sustainable water stewardship.
